Outpatient early intervention services
The early intervention program provides a personalized meeting with a speech therapist twice a week; it is aimed at children from 1 to 3 years.
This service was established to develop the communication skills of every hearing-impaired child through the visual, mimic-expressive and auditory-vocal channels; it is also useful for parents and children to start using hearing aids.
At each meeting the speech therapist speaks to the child by pointing out his mouth and the expression on his face, making him to put his hand on the cheek, lips, throat, in order to make him feel the vibration produced by voice. Through the game, the hearing-impaired child is also invited to hear, observe and touch the source of so various sounds, to stimulate his hearing in order to create the conditions necessary for learning the words. The parent accompanying the child is invited to attend the meetings to learn how to deal with the hearing-impaired child and help him in his/her growth.
